- 1 ½ cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup milk
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine, cut into small pieces
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour an 8”x 8"x 2" baking pan. Put the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, butter, egg, and vanilla into a mixing bowl. With an electric mixer at medium speed, beat the ingredients together for 3 minutes, or until well blended.
Pour the mixture into the pan and bake, uncovered, for 35
minutes. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes then remove the cake
from the pan to the rack let cool completely. If you wish, frost the cake with
Cream Cheese Frosting or Butter Cream Frosting.
