Snickerdoodles

  • ½ cup butter or margarine, softened
  • ½ cup shortening (95 grams)
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt


  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

  2. Mix thoroughly butter, shortening, sugar and eggs.

  3. In separate bowl, mix flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt.

  4. Blend flour mixture with butter and sugar mixture.

  5. Mix: 2 TBSP sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon in a small bowl.

  6. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls.  Roll balls in cinnamon sugar mixture.

  7. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.

  8. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set. Immediately remove from baking sheet.
