- 4 cups of warm water
- 4 tsp. “Real Salt”
- 1/2 C of Vegetable oil
- 1/2 C Honey
- 8 to 11 C of wheat flour
- 5 tsp of Instant Yeast
- Place 6 cups of freshly ground flour in the mixing bowl with the dough
hook attached. Then add 4 cups of warm water. Mix on speed level 1
until you’ve got a paste consistency.
- Turn off the machine and add the
yeast, salt, honey and oil.
- Turn machine back on to speed 1. Begin adding
additional cups of flour one cup at a time.
- As the machine bears down,
increase the speed to 2. Continue adding additional flour until the
dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. I usually use a total of 11
cups of flour.
- Let rise in bowl until doubled.
- Punch down, form loafs and let rise in loaf pans until double again (makes 4 loafs in 4x9 loaf pans).
- When finished rising, place them in a pre-heated 350°F oven. Bake for 30-40 minutes.
*We only let it rise once when making scones.
So how should I mix it if I don't have a mixer? Can I use my hand mixer?
